Introducing Mark & Marie

Introducing Mark and Marie!

Councillor Mark Nuti Cabinet Member for Communities and Marie Snelling Executive Director for Customer and Communities at Surrey County Council are taking to the road to go out and about in Surrey as part of the council's Make It Happen initiative. They'll be meeting and chatting with residents about how they can work together with communities to empower them to grow and prosper. It's all about joining up and joining in.

Councillors visiting High Ashurst

And they'll certainly did that at SOLD High Ashurst on 3rd August as they were shown the ropes by instructors providing Holiday Activity and Food Clubs (HAF) for some of Surrey's children. They joined in with the outdoor activities and had lunch with the children.

The HAF programme is for children who receive benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM). There are more than 17,000 children who receive free school meals in Surrey and funding is being provided by the Department for Education.

Councillor Mark Nuti said "We're all about providing grass roots provision for our communities to help them prosper and grow. The HAF programme is brilliant in supporting our younger residents to help them eat more healthily and be more active during the school holidays. It enables them to take part in really fun activities which support their development, and to be safe amongst their peers. Marie and I couldn't resist joining in and seeing for ourselves this great initiative in action.
