Groups and corporate volunteering

Groups and corporate volunteering offer a fantastic opportunity for teams to come together, while making a positive impact in their community.

It's a wonderful way to build stronger relationships within the team while giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

Groups and corporate volunteering sessions are fully supervised by SOLD staff throughout their visit.

All types of work can be adjusted to suit any ability within the group.

Types of work to be carried out include:

  • Cutting back and clearing of overgrown areas, with the possibility of some chipping.
  • Spreading of woodchip around the centre
  • Collection of timber around site.
  • Splitting of timber for campfires – (Especially during winter months).
  • Clearing up of areas that have been disturbed from Tree Felling - (Ash Die Back).
  • Hedge cutting and clearing.
  • Building of picnic benches and seating benches.
  • External painting of sheds, shelters, and fences.

What to wear

  • Clothing suitable for the season. We advise long sleeved tops and trousers if cutting and clearing.
  • Sturdy boots.
  • Waterproofs and, or suncream, subject to weather.

Equipment and training provided

All tools, materials, safety equipment and gloves will be provided, although you may choose to bring your own gloves.

We also have a selection of waterproofs to lend.

We ensure that our volunteers are fully inducted, and our regular volunteers receive additional training in ground tools use.

For example: hedge trimmers and strimmers.

There will always be one or two SOLD staff with volunteers and all machinery will be operated by SOLD staff.

Refreshments, lunch and for individuals and groups

SOLD will supply you with tea, coffee, juices and water.

  • For individual volunteers: you will need to provide own lunch.
  • Groups and corporate teams: you can bring your own lunch or we can provide a lunch at an additional cost. Many of our corporate groups take advantage of our meeting spaces, combining volunteering with a team meeting. We have a range of meeting spaces for hire.

When and where

Dates or days of the week can be flexible to suit your requirements throughout the year between 9.30am to 4 pm.

  • Henley Fort in Guildford

Requirements

Volunteers should be a minimum of 18 years old (16 years old with parental consent), physically fit and happy to work in the outdoors.

All types of work can be adjusted to suit any ability within the group.

We risk assess and have controls in place to keep all of our customers and individual, teams and group volunteers safe.
