Summer holiday activities in Guildford

We are thrilled to welcome TAZ explorers to Henley Fort in Guildford this summer for some amazing holiday activity fun!

Set high on the Hog's Back overlooking Guildford, Henley Fort is the perfect spot for learning some new skills whilst having fun in the outdoors.

We now accept childcare vouchers or Tax Free childcare for holiday activities.

(For bookings made at least 2 weeks before the start of the course)

Holiday activities days available this summer

  • Multi activity day: for children 8 to 11 year olds (Junior Explorer)
  • Home Front Historical Day: for children 8 to 11 year olds
  • Water activities: for children 10 to 13 year olds

Drop off and pick up time

Drop off is at 9.30am and pick up is at 4.15pm

Each day is split into two sessions, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.15pm to 4.15pm with 45 minutes lunch break.

Lunch

  • There are no vending facilities on-site. Don't forget to bring a packed lunch (nut free) and plenty to drink (water bottles can be refilled).
  • For the safety of others on site, please ensure that this lunch does not contain nut products.

Cost

  • Multi-activity courses are £50 per child per day and run from 9.30am to 4.15pm

  • If you feel it is very important that your child need to be with specific friend, we will do our best to accommodate your request, please mention your child's friend at sign in.

Land Multi Activity Day - Junior Explorer

Age group: 8 to 11 year olds

TAZ Junior land activities will be running at Henley Fort this summer on various dates throughout the holidays.

Activities take place no matter what the weather so ensure your child is wearing appropriate outdoor clothes (waterproof jacket, sun hats, trainers).

Activities that may take place:

Each day is different and activities can include: animal tracking, lighting fires, making puppets or dream catchers, building dens and much more!

  • Archery
  • Bush craft survival skills – fire lighting, cooking over fire, den building, tracking, bug hotel building, scavenger hunt, nature hike
  • Orienteering including map and compass skills and navigation around site
  • Team challenges and games
  • Eco arts and crafts – mud faces and natural art
  • Climbing

Historical experience at Henley Fort, children marching and dress up as part of the army

Home Front Historical Day

Age group: 8 to 11 year olds

Come to Henley Fort and be transported back in time to what is was like during World War II. Everyone will have the opportunity of becoming both Home Guard and Air Raid Wardens for the day.

What to wear for multi activity and Home Front Historical Day

  • Appropriate clothing for the weather - jumper, trousers, long sleeved t-shirt
  • Waterproofs,for rainy and windy days
  • Warm coat
  • Sun cream and sun hat
  • Hat and gloves

Water activities - Water Explorer in Guildford

Age group: 10 to 13 year olds

Location: Dapdune Wharf GU1 4RR

Water based activities on the River Wey

Activities include:

  • Stand up Paddleboarding
  • Canoeing

A change of clothes and trainers is required. Wetsuits are not provided but you are welcome to bring one.

Drop off location

These sessions run from Dapdune Wharf, GU1 4RR. Please meet there from 9.30 am (not at Henley Fort) and wait for the Surrey Outdoor Learning Instructor.

What to bring
