42 Students Paddle 100Km

Forty-two students from Esher College paddled exactly 100km along the River Thames to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Gold practise Canoe Expedition.

Dr Roger J Hopper is Development Manager at Heatree Activity Centre in Devon. He has over 25 years' experience working in the outdoors as a multi-activity instructor, trainer, centre Manager, qualified teacher and University lecturer. His passion is to support and enable the outdoors to be used in a professionally recognised, sustainable manner for personal transformation. Roger will be talking about the National Outdoor Learning Award (NOLA) which all schools can take part in.

Roger trained in Wales as a teacher of English and Outdoor Education and he has retained an interest in both subjects throughout his career. Nick will be leading a talk on 'Building a Naturalist' as well as delivering two workshops on the fascinating minute world of 'Life in a Bucket'. Great excitement at Thames Young Mariners today with a sighting of a seal in our lake aboard a windsurf board!
